Metalpress Series

The hydraulic briquetting machine for metal chips.

6 models for every size of mechanical workshop

Compacts aluminum, steel, cast iron, brass, copper chips, and all metals. Recovers up to 90% of coolant. Increases the commercial value of your scrap by 50%.

How Metalpress Series Briquetting Machines Work

The operation of Metalpress Series briquetting machines is based on a high-pressure mechanical and hydraulic cycle: the material, fed by an agitator, is metered by a drawer, operated by a hydraulic cylinder, into the compaction chamber, where a hydraulic compaction cylinder compresses it to form a cylindrical briquette. A gate equipped with a hydraulic cylinder manages the briquette ejection.

The Metalpress Series (excluding the 100 EVO) is designed to integrate into COMAFER automated centralized systems or with other feeding systems, both in indoor and outdoor environments

During pressing, the coolant contained in the chips is mechanically separated. Metalpress models can be equipped, upon request, with special liquid collection and recovery tanks with drainage electric pump (standard on the 900 EVO), allowing up to 90% coolant recovery.

From hopper to briquette

How Metalpress series briquetting machines transform waste chips into resources in 4 stages.

Advantages of briquetting with the Metalpress Series

–90% volume

Optimized spaces with increased efficiency, therefore less volume, more order, and more productivity

–70% recycling costs

Fewer containers, fewer trips, higher sales margin

+90% coolant recovery

All expensive coolants, which would be lost, are recovered during pressing, collected in a dedicated tank, and reintroduced into the machine tool, eliminating waste

–80% handling and transport costs

Drastic reduction in bin emptying operations with consequent forklift movement, reduced operator time with increased safety and greater resource efficiency

+50% commercial value and +90% melting yield

Higher commercial value as briquettes are compacted at very high pressures compared to chips, thus reducing transport costs and significantly superior melting yield

Environmental compliance

Transporting compacted chips eliminates the risk of spilling liquids harmful to the environment, avoiding serious administrative and criminal penalties, fewer trips to collection centers, lower CO2 emissions, circular economy, and ISO 9001:2015 certified green choice

Which metal chips can you briquette with the Metalpress Series?

The Metalpress Series is designed to compact chips and powders from mechanical processing.

Unlike briquetting machines for organic materials, Metalpress machines operate at pressures up to 3764 kg/cm2 to ensure high-density metal briquettes, ready for delivery to foundries or collection centers.

FAQ

Metalpress Series FAQ

What is the main advantage of briquetting metal chips instead of selling them loose?

Metal briquettes have a commercial value 50% higher than loose chips because they guarantee a melting yield 90% superior. Pressing removes the coolant (recoverable up to 90%).

Which Metalpress model should I choose for my mechanical workshop?

It depends on the hourly chip production. For small workshops: 100 EVO (20–50 kg/h). Small-medium companies: 150 EVO or 150 EVO S (50–150 kg/h). Medium companies: 500 EVO (100–400 kg/h). Large companies: 700 EVO (100–600 kg/h). Large facilities: 900 EVO (400–1200 kg/h).

What is the difference between Metalpress 150 EVO and 150 EVO S?

Same basic technical characteristics. The 150 EVO S adds automatic briquette length adjustment via position transducers — essential when processing chips of different types and sizes without operator intervention — and Siemens HMI panel for complete control

Does the Metalpress Series really recover up to 90% of coolant?

Yes, indicatively. During high-pressure pressing, the coolant is mechanically expelled and collected in integrated recovery tanks. Actual recovery depends on chip type and initial content. Recovered coolant can be reused in the production cycle.

Can I briquette mixed chips?

It depends on the final use. For sale to foundries, briquettes must be homogeneous by metal type. For mixed chips with ferrous inclusions, COMAFER offers a centralized system with vibrating table and magnetic drum that automatically separates ferrous parts before briquetting.

Does the Metalpress work with dry chips without coolant?

No. Without the lubrication system accessory, there is a risk of bushing seizure as well as friction and premature wear of internal components.

How is Metalpress maintenance managed?

The 500–700–900 EVO models have a maintenance deadline notification system integrated into the Siemens HMI. COMAFER offers scheduled maintenance contracts and after-sales assistance with qualified technicians and spare parts warehouse, even for discontinued machines.
